Fifth Grade Tours

One of the greatest roles of the Museum is that of educator. The Museum’s goal is to expose as many young people to the arts as possible.

Student Tours

Starting in 2004, the International Museum of Art began a partnership with the Fine Arts Department of the El Paso Independent School District. This relationship brings thousands of E.P.I.S.D. fifth grade students to tour the Museum each year.

The students learn about the history of the Turney home as well as the exhibits in the permanent collection such as the African Collection, the Mexican Revolution Collection, and the Kolliker Collection containing pre-historic images and works from master artist Bill Kolliker.

Students delight in the latex casting of Pancho Villa’s death mask, stand in awe of the hunting tools in the African Gallery, and giggle in delight at the collection of dolls from around the world.

Prior to visiting the International Museum of Art, students are invited to review the etiquette for visiting the Museum.

Mission of Education

The education of the city’s young people is one of the ultimate goals of the International Museum of Art. Without the support of the community, the Museum could not continue to provide such educational programming.
