Submitting Work

The International Museum of Art considers high quality work by professional artists for display in its changing galleries. While the Museum books shows many months in advance and has very limited availability of gallery space, artists are invited to submit images of work for consideration.

Due to the large number of submissions, the Museum cannot respond to every artist. Should the Museum wish to see more of an artist’s work, a representative will contact the artist.

Artists are also invited to participate in the Museum’s open exhibits held at various times throughout the year.

The International Museum of Art also sponsors Kermezaar, the Southwest’s largest arts and crafts festival. Held every year in the fall, Kermezaaris an excellent opportunity for artists to showcase and sell their work to a broad audience. Additional information on Kermezaar 2010 is coming soon.

Submitting Works for Consideration

Works for consideration may be submitted via the postal service or electronically via e-mail.

All submissions must include:

Your contact information: name, phone number, e-mail address, link to website
Between 5 and 10 images
Images in 4 x 6 inch format.

Postal Service

If you wish to have your submission returned, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope with sufficient postage. The Museum cannot return items without sufficient postage
Images should be labeled to indicate the top of the photo.

Electronic Submission

Please contact us for specific instructions on e-mailing your submission.

Images should be properly oriented (no rotation necessary)
Images should be in jpg format with dimensions of 1200 x 1800 (4 x 6 inches with a resolution of 300 dpi). A 2.5 Megapixel or better camera may be required to produce images with these dimensions. One and 2.0 Megapixel cameras, such as those found on cell phones, may no produce the quality required for submission
Several images can be included in one Zip archive (Windows compressed folder)
Each e-mail is limited to 8 MB in size. Multiple e-mails are allowed if necessary
Submissions may include Zip archives, JPG images, PDF, Text (.txt), and Microsoft Word documents (Word 2000 format). Other file formats, including applications, slide shows, flash, etc. will not be accepted.

Submitting Store Items

While on display in our galleries, selected works of art may also be displayed in our online store.

Artists who have been accepted into an exhibit at the Museum may submit items for consideration for placement in our online store at no charge. Alternatively, the Museum can prepare the store items by photographing the artist's work hanging in the galleries and posting online. The cost for this service is $40 for up to five pieces. Please contact us for specific instructions on e-mailing your store items.

Store Submission Guidelines

Several items can be included in one Zip archive (Windows compressed folder)
Each e-mail is limited to 8 MB in size. Multiple e-mails are allowed if necessary
Submissions may include Zip archives, JPG images, PDF, Text (.txt), and Microsoft Word documents (Word 2000 format). Other file formats, including applications, slide shows, flash, etc. will not be accepted.

Each item to appear in the store should include an image:

Images must be in jpg format with a maximum width of 430 pixels (narrower widths are allowed)
Images should be named with the title and artist's name without spaces (the underscore character "_" should be used instead of spaces).

Accompanying each image should be a document that includes:

A store item title - 28 character maximum
Price
Description
Optional - Summary (recommended to include artist's name).
